Sofi Castillo’s world was rocked to its core when her brother, AJ Castillo, took his own life— it was further rocked when she learned that his death might have not been of his own doing.
In Outlook Not So Good, follow Sofi and her eclectic roommate, Robyn, as they uncover the mystery behind AJ’s mysterious death. They will brush with danger, and unlock AJ’s troublesome AI companion, Billie, who may have more to do with AJ’s mysterious death than Sofi realizes.
Will they solve the mystery behind AJ’s death, or will their outlook be not so good?
Meet the characters…
Sofia Castillo: Daughter, sister, robotics enthusiast with a need for normality, Sofi shares the grief of the loss of her father and brother with her living mother Carmen. After AJ’s suspected suicide last May, Sofi spent the summer debating whether or not to continue attending college. With the gentle yet persistent nudging from her mother and new step-dad, Sofi is about to embark on a coming of age journey full of quirky roommates, first dates, laughter and grief, while Sofi tries to figure out how her brother, a man loved by everyone he met, got to such a low headspace.
Seth Adams Jr. : AJ’s former best friend and a new student teacher at Sofi’s college, Seth may have more to do with the circumstances of AJ’s death than Sofi realizes.
Kevin Santiago: Kevin-- who’s new to this messy, divided family-- is just trying his best to keep everyone happy.
Jackson: 25 year old male with long brown hair and Seth’s stoner roommate who's the local school weed dealer, and is very spaced-out and laid-back.
AJ Castillo: Carmen Castillo’s son and Sofi Castillo’s brother, he was the brightest in the family. AJ tragically passed away too soon, but Sofi has grown suspicious about the circumstances of his death.
Robyn Heinrich-Fletcher: Sofi’s randomly selected last minute roommate, Robyn is equally as driven and determined as Sofi--not for the inner workings of robotics and engineering but instead towards taking classes from as many departments as possible and caring for her emotional support animal, a ferret with a list of nicknames but formally known as Craig.
Carmen Castillo: Mother to Sofi and AJ, a gentle and extremely loving mother who experienced multiple tragedies, including the death of her first husband, and the death of her eldest child AJ. Every day she tries to remain strong for her last remaining relative and daughter, Sofi, but sometimes comes off as overbearing. Trying her best to move on with her life, Carmen has recently remarried her high school sweetheart, Kevin Santiago.
Billie: “Bot Imitating the Living, Learning, and Interactive Experience”, Billie is AJ’s artificial intelligence project built into the shell of a Magic Eight ball, passed down to Sofi by her stepdad before she left to school. Will Billie somehow be a key into AJ’s death?
